Steve Tyler, an employee with Standard Golf for almost three decades, has been promoted to the company’s newly-created national sales manager position.
In his new role, Tyler will be responsible for helping distributors plan and implement effective sales strategies for Standard Golf products. He will also determine trade show schedules, distributor assignments and call schedules in addition to other duties.
“As our national sales manager, Tyler will work with current distributors to help maximize exposure to Standard Golf products in their markets,” said Matt Hurley, Standard Golf vice president. “He will also be working to expand the reach of Standard Golf products in under served markets across the country.”
Tyler has been an integral employee of the Standard Golf Company for more than 28 years and a staple of the golf industry in Iowa for even longer. Prior to joining Standard Golf Company, Tyler was a superintendent for Pheasant Ridge and Washington Park golf courses in Cedar Falls for 13 years. He served on the Iowa Golf Course Superintendent Association board of directors from 1975 to 1979 and was president in 1978.
Tyler worked with Iowa State University to bring education to all facets of the Turf Industry by helping to organize the Iowa Turf Institute (ITI). When the ITI was founded in 1980, Tyler served as the organization’s first President. He received the ITI Meritorious Service award in 2009.
Most recently, Tyler was inducted on June 3 as part of the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2010.
In his previous role with the company as regional sales manager/new product director at Standard Golf, Tyler was a primary inventor of many golf course accessories, including the popular ST2000 cup and ferrule system.
